Thomas H. Chalkley, M.D.
A beloved and highly regarded ophthalmologist, Dr. Thomas H. Chalkley lost his battle with cancer on January 16, 2011. For more than a year, Dr. Chalkley gave us all a lesson in courage, coming to the Westfield Eye Center each day with a smile and positive attitude despite his rigorous course of treatments. Dr. Chalkley was a leader in providing unparalleled patient care.
Dr. Chalkley graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and served his ophthalmology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Chalkley was past president of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society, served for years as an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and was a consulting editor for the American Journal of Ophthalmology.
A former associate professor of clinical ophthalmology at Northwestern University School of Medicine, Dr. Chalkley was also and author, and four editions of his book, "Your Eyes", have been published.
