PHYSICIANS |
Kenneth
C. Westfield, M.D. is a 1976 graduate of the Wayne State
University School of Medicine and completed his internship at Henry
Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. After completion of his
residency training at the Kresge Eye Institute in 1980, he moved to
Las Vegas and established a private practice. Being one of the
founders and first Medical Director of the Nevada Eye Bank was only
one of the leading edge roles he has played since starting his
practice. Dr. Westfield was the first Ophthalmologist in the area to
do cataract surgery in a free standing ambulatory surgery center,
the first to do refractive surgery when he introduced Radial
Keratotomy to Las Vegas in 1981, the first to service a large
managed care contract successfully, and the first to service under
served rural areas when he established satellite clinics from 1982 -
1990. Dr. Westfield also volunteers ophthalmology services for
Mission Cataract USA, Friends of the Children of Las Cahobas, Haiti,
and LIGA - a group of flying doctors that administers medical care
to the needy throughout the world. |

Thomas
H. F. Chalkley, M.D.
is a
graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and
served his ophthalmology residency at Northwestern Memorial
Hospital. Dr. Chalkley is past president of the Chicago
Ophthalmological Society, has served for years as an Associate
Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and was a
consulting editor for the American Journal of Ophthalmology. As a
former Associate professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Northwestern
University School of Medicine, Dr. Chalkley brings a wealth of
professional experience to the Westfield Eye Center. He is a fellow
of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The 4th edition of his
book, YOUR EYES has just been published. |

Weldon
E. (Don) Havins, M.D., J.D., L.L.M. is a graduate of Bowman Gray
School of Medicine of Wake Forest University and served his
ophthalmology residency at UCLA Medical Center, Jules Stein Eye
Institute. His fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery is from the
University of Texas School of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Havins
has received certification from the American Boards of
Ophthalmology, Forensic Medicine, Quality Assurance and Utilization
Review Physicians, and Legal Medicine. He has had several articles
published in various medical journals including the Journal of the
American Medical Association (JAMA). Dr. Havins took a sabbatical
from the medical field and attended the University of San Diego
School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in May of 1998. He
completed a Master of Law in Health law, Cum Laude, in August of
1998. |

C. Edward Yee,
M.D. Dr. Yee graduated cum laude from Creighton University
School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, completed his residency in
ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia
and took a Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Tulane
University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Yee is Fellow of the
American Academy of Ophthalmology and is Board Certified by the
American Board of Ophthalmology. Before embarking on his
medical career Dr. Yee earned a Bachelor of Science degree,
completed graduate work in clinical chemistry, and received his
Masters of Science in chemistry.
Dr. Yee's solid grounding in general ophthalmology, and specialized
skills in cornea and refractive surgery complement our dedication to
providing our patients with the highest quality and most
comprehensive eye care available. |

Kenneth
W. Houchin, M.D. Received his medical degree from Loma
Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda California.
After completing his internship in Internal Medicine, he completed a
residency in Neurology at Loma Linda University. Dr. Houchin
then furthered his training with a Neuro-ophthalmology Fellowship at
the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Houchin
returned to Loma Linda University to complete a residency in
Ophthalmology. While practicing at Loma Linda for five years
Dr. Houchin participated in multiple investigational studies,
resulting in the publication of research in national medical
journals and numerous presentations at national meetings. Dr.
Houchin still maintains an appointment as Assistant Clinical
Professor at Loma Linda University. |

Timothy A. Perozek,
M.D.
Attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned a Bachelor of
Arts in Pre-Med and Philosophy before receiving his medical degree
from the Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Perozek completed his
Internship in Transitional Medicine in Denver at Health One
Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Perozek served his Residency
in Ophthalmology at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center’s
Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute. Dr. Perozek has co-authored a
chapter “Myopia, LASIK” for the on-line textbook EMedicine.com
and contributed research in the article “Partial Rescue of the
Ocular Retardation Phenotype by Genetic Modifiers” that was
published in the Journal of Neurobiology 42:232-247. Throughout his
training Dr. Perozek has been the recipient of many awards. |
